Dr. Mitchell Gayner
Zen Den Sound Healing
An eye pillow will be provided to help you draw your awareness inward and fully settle into relaxation. at the end of class, you'll be led into savasana and begin a body scan meditation to connect with your breath and body. As you continue to relax, you'll be immersed in the calming frequencies of a sound bath. this will be followed by a few minutes of quiet reflection to gentle nature sounds. To ease back from your meditative state, you'll be gently guided into movement and light stretching. We'll close class with a simple breath practice together, further helping you feel grounded as you transition back into your day.
Once you purchase your Private 60 min 1:1 session or Private 90 min 1:1 session with Jen you will be emailed a Client intake form a few days before your session that needs to be completed to allow for a personalized experience
After you get settled with light stretching, a warm eye pillow will be provided to encourage you to draw your awareness inward. Your experience is comprised of stretching, breath & body scan meditation, 30-40 minutes of sound bathing, and a few minutes of quiet reflection to nature sounds. You will slowly be brought back from your meditative state with gentle movement and stretching. You're invited to enjoy some water or hot tea as you gently transition back into your day.
**It is important to know that, while the majority of participants in sound bath sessions often have a very positive, relaxing experience, sometimes it can stir up deeper, more negative symptoms. A sound bath may bring forth feelings of sadness, grief, or the resurfacing of traumatic past memories. There can also be a deep release of blocked emotions that cause dizziness, nausea, pain in certain areas of the body, and headaches. These symptoms should disappear overnight, and the newly aligned energy integrates. Drink plenty of water before and after, and get plenty of rest. It is up to each individual to determine for themselves if they are in the right state of mind to receive a sound bath, and always check in with a professional mental health provider for follow-up guidance and support if there are lingering emotions after the session. If you have recently gone through a traumatic experience, please check in with a professional health provider before receiving any alternative healing treatments.
What you need to bring: You will need to wear warm layers and socks and have something to lie on (yoga mat, blanket, beach towel), a blanket to cover the body, cushion, bolster, or pillow (a small travel pillow works great) for your head. You may require an extra rolled blanket or cushion under your knees to support the lower back. If you know that lying on the floor is difficult, please speak to me in advance or bring extra padding like a camping roll. I have limited extra blankets, etc., so please plan to bring your own. A chair can be provided if that accommodation works best for you.
Things to consider:
You will need to be able to go UP or down a flight of stairs as the Zen Den is located in my lower level. and Sound Baths at NEVERBETTER are located in the upper-level Studio.
Sound bath is not advised for anyone who has severe tinnitus ( I have had many with tinnitus suffer no adverse reactions, so this is up to your discretion), epilepsy or women in their first trimester of pregnancy. People with serious mental health conditions may also have adverse reactions to the experience. Please leave time to digest any meals or snacks so that you are less likely to feel uncomfortable or sleepy while lying down. Avoid too much sugar or caffeine to help your mind and body settle and relax. Keeping well hydrated helps the body to cleanse and repair during healing. Drink water or tea throughout the day before you arrive.
